Excitement is an understatement for how I feel about our first Fall at the farm this year. I’ve been scrolling Pinterest for fall decor inspo since July. The wheat wreath flooded my feed and I instantly fell in love with the natural texture of them. I just love the warmth they bring into any room. My DIY-er kicked in and quickly decided, “I could totally make that for a lot cheaper!” The rest is history!
This post is all about how to make a wheat wreath!
Materials Needed for a Wheat Wreath
**For your convenience, some of the materials listed below are directly linked
- Dried Wheat Stalks (100 makes a full 11″ wreath)
- Wire Wreath or Hoop Wreath
- Floral Wire or String
- Scissors
- Snips
How to Make a Wheat Wreath
Clip Wire Wreath

- Using snips or wire cutters, separate all four rings from the form
- Using one ring vs the full form requires less stems to create a full wreath
- Bonus: Now you can create 3 more wreaths using 1 form.. like this hoop wreath
- I used the second smallest ring (11″) and 100 stalks covered the ring perfectly
Tie Stalks Together

- Divide the bundle into groups of 3
- Tie or wire them together
Trim the Stems

- Remove most of the stem leaving about three inches to work with
Tie Bundles to Wreath

String
- Once you know the length of string you need, cut several pieces to make your process faster
- lay a piece of string in a sideways U (see first image)
- Lay the ring on top of the string and then the wheat bundle
- Thread both ends of the string through the loop and tighten
- Wrap the string around the bundle and ring a few times and tie in a double knot
- Trim off excess string
Floral Wire
- Lay the ring and a wheat bundle on top of the wire
- Wrap the wire around the wheat and ring as tight as possible a few times
- Twist both ends of wire together
- Trim off excess wire
Repeat

- Repeat tying process until the ring is full
- I spaced my bundles about 1.5″ to 2″ apart
